Reaching New Heights in Perinatal, Neonatal, and Women’s Health

The 2026 CAPWHN Conference in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Neonatal Nurses (CANN) brings together nurses from across Canada to explore the latest evidence, innovations, and best practices in care across the lifespan. This conference will provide a dynamic forum for learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, with a focus on advancing equitable, trauma-informed, and patient-centred care. Participants will gain practical insights, strengthen leadership and advocacy skills, and engage with emerging research and technologies shaping the future of perinatal, neonatal, and women’s health.

Conference Objectives:

1. Promote Excellence in Clinical Practice Across the Lifespan

  • Share evidence-based strategies that advance perinatal & neonatal health areas such as family-centred care, healthy beginnings, mental health and well-being.
  • Present evidence‑based strategies in women’s health that advance areas such as contraception, menopause, endometriosis, heart disease, and mental health.
  • Address disparities in care with an intersectional and trauma-informed care lens in underserved communities.
  • Explore innovations such as telehealth, artificial intelligence, and digital tools that enhance care across the lifespan.

2. Advance Leadership and Advocacy

  • Advocate for systemic changes addressing social determinants of health and intersectional inequities across the lifespan.
  • Equip nurses to lead policy and advocacy efforts that advance equitable, trauma-informed care across all life stages.
  • Highlight leadership pathways for nurses in clinical, academic, and policy settings.

3. Enhance Education and Professional Development

  • Integrate intersectionality, cultural safety, and trauma-informed principles into nursing education.
  • Provide innovative strategies for teaching perinatal, neonatal, and women’s health.
  • Address workforce sustainability, mentorship, and ongoing professional growth.

4. Foster Research, Quality Improvement, and Knowledge Translation

  • Highlight research and quality improvement initiatives focused on perinatal, neonatal, and women’s health.
  • Present community-based participatory research with diverse populations.
